About Andy Dovell

Andy Dovell, Naval Architect, has designed everything from America’s Cup boats to most of the surfboard foils on the top performance surfboards. Andy was chosen to design the Radical, a boat more powerful, lighter and cheaper than a Farr 40. With his history of America’s Cup participation Andy Dovell is highly experienced as an architect and also an analyst of other designs at the highest level of competition.
Andy Dovell has been involved in designing racing yachts that have won almost every grand prix offshore event world-wide including three Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races, the Transpac race from Los Angeles to Honolulu, the Chicago to Mackinac race, and Cowes Week in the UK.
Evidence of the effectiveness of his ground-breaking work on keel wings in combination with canting keels is on display on the giant-killing Atomic, a 50’ racer that regularly outpaces even 80’ racing yachts.
